Confirmed: Fletcher's team to play Burnley

Wednesday 07 January 2026 19:00

Bruno Fernandes starts for Manchester United against Burnley, as the one change made by interim head coach Darren Fletcher.

Our captain has missed the last three matches since picking up a problem in the defeat to Aston Villa just before Christmas, but returns to skipper the side in the 20:15 GMT kick-off at Turf Moor.

Fernandes comes in for Leny Yoro, who is named on a substitutes' bench that also features the returning Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount.

Positive news as Reds squad arrives at Burnley

United's ranks are bolstered for our Premier League tussle at Turf Moor.

Their inclusions are a pre-match boost for Fletcher, who suggested in Tuesday's press conference that Fernandes and Mount would be in the squad this evening.

The presence of Maguire and Mainoo is also a welcome sight that we reported as the squad arrived in east Lancashire, a short time ago.

Harry has not played since picking up an injury in the draw at Tottenham Hotspur before the November international break, and a calf problem meant Kobbie was absent for our last four fixtures.

Matthijs de Ligt remains on the sidelines, while Amad, Noussair Mazraoui and Bryan Mbeumo are still at the Africa Cup of Nations.

For Burnley, United Academy graduate Hannibal starts in a side that is captained by former Manchester City defender Kyle Walker.
