Dean Henderson has completed a permanent transfer from Manchester United to fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace.

Henderson, 26, has spent the majority of his career so far at United and his departure ends a twelve-year association with our club.

He has gained a whole portfolio of experience away from Old Trafford throughout his time here, enjoying loan spells with five different sides in Stockport County, Grimsby Town, Shrewsbury Town, Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest.

Dean joined our youth system as an 11-year-old and subsequently went on to become one of our many Academy graduates who have played for the first team.

Henderson made his United debut against Luton Town in our 3-0 Carabao Cup fourth-round triumph back in September 2020 and stated after the game: “I dreamt about this my whole life.”

He then followed up his maiden outing for the Reds with a second showing during our Carabao Cup fifth-round tie with Brighton, keeping another clean sheet in a 3-0 win against Brighton.

Dean made a total of 22 appearances and also played six times in Europe for the club, across the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.
Having already tasted Premier League football with the Reds, Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest, his plethora of experience at the very top level will stand him in great stead moving forward into the next chapter of his career.

A popular member of the squad, Henderson has continued to help pave the way for the next generation of goalkeepers at United, aiding the likes of Radek Vitek, Matej Kovar and Ondrej Mastny in training sessions at Carrington.

Last season, he made a total of 20 appearances and kept six clean sheets for Forest in their Premier League and EFL Cup campaigns.
Henderson has also played senior international football for England; he made his debut for the Three Lions during a 3-0 friendly victory over the Republic of Ireland back in November 2020.

Everyone at Manchester United would like to express our pride in watching Dean develop into the model professional he has become and we send our best wishes to him for the future. We will be monitoring his progress with an eager eye and hope he enjoys a superb career in the game.
