Reds' reaction pleases Dalot

Diogo Dalot feels Manchester United responded in the right way after Aston Villa’s equalising goal at Villa Park – as we finished the game strongly and earned a 2-1 victory thanks to Scott McTominay’s late winner.

The Portuguese full-back delivered a delightful cross for McTominay to head in the emphatic and decisive third goal of the game with just four minutes left on the clock in the Midlands.

Erik ten Hag’s side had performed well for much of the contest, having gone ahead courtesy of Rasmus Hojlund’s cool opener early in the first half, but were pegged back midway through the second when Douglas Luiz levelled the scores.

It was the way in which United responded to that setback that Dalot highlighted as a key takeaway from our impressive triumph at Villa Park.

"We'll enjoy this win"

Diogo Dalot spoke about unity with the fans, after our win at Villa Park left everyone delighted...

“I think we had this really good week of work all together,” our no.20 explained, speaking to MUTV.

“We know that it can happen, even if we concede goals, we just have to keep our heads clean and keep compact on the ball, good sensations, and I think we did it.

“After we concede the goal, we were calm, composed, tried to find the right spaces and that led us to the goal, and I think it’s fantastic for us to step up in these moments.

“Now we go home and enjoy this win because we deserve it and look ahead and prepare for Luton.”

It was a victory of immense satisfaction for Dalot and his team-mates, but he was just as pleased to have got over the line for the sake of our supporters – who were, as always, out in their numbers backing the Reds on the road.

“I’m really, really happy. We knew that today was going to be a good and tough game to play, but also a very important one for us as a team, as a club, to keep this good momentum.

“I think the fans were buzzing at the end and we’re just so happy that we can give them that joy as well because they deserve it.

“I think all the wins now give us confidence. I think what we take from this game is us all together with the fans celebrating at the end.

“I think that shows that the club are together, we are building this connection with the fans as well, and we’re very happy to see them celebrate and also with the performance.”
