Dalot makes it a dozen Reds at Euro 2020

Diogo Dalot has become Manchester United's 12th representative in Euro 2020, after being called up to replace an unfortunate Portugal team-mate.

Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo is the player making way, while Dalot being picked as his replacement is reward for the young Red's impressive performances at the recent Under-21 tournament.

Portugal were runners-up in that competition, narrowly losing 1-0 to Germany in the final earlier this month.

Despite a 1-0 defeat to Germany in the final, the full-back can reflect positively on his time in Hungary and Slovenia.

In a statement published on Sunday, the Federation of Portuguese Football (FPF) revealed that Cancelo had tested positive for COVID-19 in Budapest, where his national side will take on Hungary in Group F on Tuesday.

The FPF added that every other player in Fernando Santos's 26-man squad, including United playmaker Bruno Fernandes, tested negative for the coronavirus.
Dalot, who played against United in this season's Europa League for his loan club AC Milan, will now be hoping to make his senior international debut during the tournament. The Reds' summer 2018 signing from Porto has played for Portugal at every youth level up to their Under-21s, for whom he has played 15 times.
