Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot is committed to developing his own game, in order to assist the Reds in achieving their collective aims this season.

The Portuguese defender is looking forward to the new Premier League season, which kicks off on Sunday, when United take on Brighton at Old Trafford.

Previewing the curtain-raising fixture for United Review, Dalot shared his desire to build on a pre-season which saw him start regularly for new United manager Erik ten Hag.

“I set my targets and it’s always about trying to help the team as much as I can,” he said. “That’s what I work hard for every day.

“[I want] to be an option for the manager and I always want to step up my game.”

While the 23-year-old has his sights set on individual development, he is also hoping that the Reds can continue to make progress, after an impressive pre-season campaign that saw Ten Hag’s side lose only once.

He said: “I always want to be better than what I was before and this season I want to step up my game individually.

“Collectively, hopefully, we can reach the end of the season with some trophies.”

United face Brighton at Old Trafford on Sunday 7 August. Kick-off is set for 14:00 BST, with MUTV build-up beginning at 13:00 BST.
