Donny van de Beek in action during his Premier League debut for United

The Reds who scored on their Premier League debut

Sunday 20 September 2020 09:00

Donny van de Beek became the 20th Manchester United player to score on his Premier League debut, during the Reds' 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

It was a disappointing start to the new 2020/21 season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, but there was one bright spot in the second half, as van de Beek came off the bench and delivered a positive cameo.

After United went 2-0 down to a controversial penalty, converted by Wilfried Zaha, van de Beek struck a composed finish to half the deficit and offer his team some hope.

It was to prove in vain, but van de Beek did manage to join a roster of Reds, past and present, to have netted on his first appearance in the English top flight since 1992.

The most recent debutant to achieve the same feat was Donny’s team-mate Daniel James, who scored after coming on as substitute in the 4-0 win over Chelsea that opened last season.

Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford also did it during the 2015/16 campaign, delivering memorable strikes against Liverpool and Arsenal, respectively.
Van de Beek’s new boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, also scored on his own Premier League debut, just six minutes after coming on for David May in a 2-2 draw against Blackburn in 1996.

The full list includes United legends like Ruud van Nistelrooy and Paul Scholes but as you can see below, some less famous names as well...
