Van de Beek: Ten Hag will be really good for Reds

Manchester United will be looking to make it four wins on the trot when Arsenal visit Old Trafford today.

It's very early days for Erik ten Hag of course but a fellow Dutchman, midfielder Donny van de Beek, believes the new boss is the right man to bring success to the club.

The pair worked together during their time at Ajax and van de Beek has seen first-hand the impact the manager can have.

"He will be really good for the club," van de Beek said in an interview for United Review

Van de Beek: I'm feeling positive

Donny van de Beek discusses becoming a father, returning to United and working with Erik ten Hag again...

"I think in terms of the way the club is, and how they want to play, he's a good mix for what they want as a manager.

"We had big success at the club in Ajax. Now we are here, with a new chapter and a new challenge, and of course we want to do the same here."

Van de Beek, who had a spell on loan at Everton last season, believes our current form is a clear indication of what the boss is trying to achieve here.

"I still think we can do much better and we can improve, but we signed a few new players - top-class players - so of course they will help the team improve.

"I believe that we will do better and better every week, and we're pushing for that."
The likes of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro are among our new arrivals this summer, players with whom van de Beek is familiar with, having played against them. He has also been reunited with former Ajax team-mate Lisandro Martinez, who has been a rock at the back for the Reds.

"I know what they are capable of and they are really good players, so they will help us for sure," said Donny.

"They are nice people, but they are also team players. I think this is important, to work hard together. As people, they fit very well with the players we have."

August's prize is awarded to our new centre-back after some stellar displays.

With Eriksen and Casemiro now on board, Ten Hag has plenty of midfield strength to pick from - and he continues to assure that rotation will happen as we play more and more games.

Van de Beek believes we will need that depth during a 'tough season'.

"A club like United needs many options and needs a big squad to play and to have a good season.

"Everyone wants to play, but you have to show it and you need to improve yourself every day to be in the first XI.

"Having lots of options will keep everyone sharp, and for this we need lots of good players."

Van de Beek and Ten Hag worked together previously at Ajax.
Between the league, domestic cups and Europe, the Reds have a busy campaign on the horizon. But van de Beek is relishing the upcoming schedule that will feature plenty of fixtures in quick succession.

"I love it when we play after three days [another] game. I prefer more to have games than training sessions, so definitely I like it."

The full interview with Donny will be published in Thursday's edition of United Review for the Real Sociedad game. Tickets for that match are available now to Official Members.
