Donny ‘not far away’ from injury return
Donny van de Beek has revealed he is “not far away” from a return to action as he steps up his recovery from a long-term knee injury.
The Dutch midfielder has been sidelined since January, when he suffered the problem during the Reds' 3-0 win over Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
He was quickly ruled out for the rest of the season, but has been working hard on his recovery and recently shared some encouraging images on social media of him doing some gym work.
Speaking from Old Trafford during our #ILOVEUNITED fan event in Singapore, the 26-year-old told MUTV: “I’m busy with my recovery after my injury and everything is going well.
“It’s hard to give you a time but we have to see how everything goes. I’m doing a lot of gym work and getting closer to being on the pitch, which is positive. I’m not far away.”
Van de Beek, who joined United from Ajax in September 2020, had made 10 appearances this season before his misfortune against the Cherries.
He admits he’s found it hard to watch the Reds from the sidelines but has been boosted by the support of his team-mates.

“It’s a bit strange – of course you want to be there with the lads but it is what it is so I’m supporting them from the side,” he said.
“They are so involved – they’re always asking how everything is, how the knee is. They’re really good lads and they support me, so that’s a good feeling.”
