Donny: We all take responsibility

Donny van de Beek says everyone in the team must take responsibility following Manchester United’s disappointing 2-1 Champions League defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday night.

The hosts went ahead through Demba Ba when the Reds got caught after taking a short corner on 13 minutes.

Speaking after the game in Istanbul, Donny feels all 11 players defend as team as the Reds should have done much better for the opener.

After two straight defeats, Donny van de Beek says United need a reaction at Goodison Park this Saturday…

“We started okay in the first 10 minutes but then we gave the ball away, I don’t know how, and after that, I think we lose the confidence. We can play much better,” he told BT Sport and MUTV.

“I mean we are a team and everybody has the responsibility. I think we can play much better, like I say before.”

Anthony Martial’s header just before the break gave United hope, but ultimately there was no way back for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men.

“I had the feeling really [we could come back after Martial’s goal] – there was also a lot of space to play and create something. But we did not create many chances,” added the midfielder.

“For them, it was a really nice win. For us, as I’ve said before, we’re really disappointed. We need to improve a lot.

“What I say – we are Manchester United. We need to improve. I think the games before, like the last game against Arsenal, was the same. We played not our best game. Now we have to step up against Everton.”
