Young Boys celebrate.

Drama in the other Group F game

Tuesday 23 November 2021 22:16

Young Boys and Atalanta drew 3-3 in Group F's other game on Tuesday – a result that means Manchester United are guaranteed to remain in top spot.

A six-goal thriller unfolded in Bern with Atalanta going ahead after 10 minutes through striker Duvan Zapata. Siebatcheu ensured the scores were level at half-time, only for Jose Luis Palomino to restore the Serie A side's advantage.

Two goals inside four minutes looked to have turned the tie on its head as Vincent Sierro and Silvan Hefti sent the home crowd wild to edge Young Boys in front. However, Luis Muriel had the final say, with nine minutes remaining, with a goal that broke the Swiss team's hearts.

Atalanta fought back to earn a point.

The outcome means United cannot be toppled from the group summit after our excellent 2-0 win at Villarreal. Although the Spanish outfit are three points behind us, the head-to-head favours the Reds following our two victories over the Yellow Submarine.

We welcome Young Boys to Old Trafford on 8 December (20:00 GMT kick-off), hoping to avenge our defeat to them in the opening fixture in the group. The visitors will still have an outside chance of gaining Europa League qualification but cannot now make the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Our next Premier League outing after the tie is at Norwich City on the Saturday (11 December, 17:30 GMT kick-off).

Atalanta must win at home to Villarreal to take second spot from Unai Emery's men.
