Ole Gunnar Solskjaer encourages his players from the technical area

Early team news for Kristiansund clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to take a strong Manchester United squad to his native Norway for Tuesday's match against Kristiansund BK.

The Reds' penultimate pre-season game, which will be shown live on MUTV, is likely to be a poignant occasion for the boss with the opponents hailing from his hometown.

However, as usual, Ole’s mind will be set firmly on the task at hand - to continue preparing his squad for the Premier League opener against Chelsea in a fortnight's time.
Team-mates gather around first goalscorer Anthony Martial in Thursday's win over Spurs.

Eric Bailly is a major doubt for the trip; the defender had to be stretchered off in our last outing against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, with Ole admitting afterwards that the injury "doesn’t look great".

If the Ivorian is absent, then the Reds still have five other centre-backs to select from in Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling and Axel Tuanzebe.

The boss has rotated them in pre-season so far, as he has done with his entire squad, but it will be intriguing to see if his starting line-ups against Kristiansund and finally AC Milan in Cardiff next Saturday give greater clues to his plans for the all-important Chelsea game.

Solskjaer used 27 of the 30 players who travelled to Australia and Asia for the first four pre-season games, with the majority being given over two hours of football. The men seeing the most action on the pitch were Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, who racked up 197 minutes apiece.

The three members of the tour party who did not play in Perth, Singapore or Shanghai were Matteo Darmian, Lee Grant and Romelu Lukaku.

As with all our pre-season games, Kristiansund v United in Oslo on Tuesday 30 July (18:00 BST) will be shown live on MUTV.
