Early team news for Hatters clash

Manchester United must dust ourselves down from the controversial 4-3 loss at FC Copenhagen when returning to domestic action this weekend.

Luton Town will become our 50th opponents in the Premier League when heading to Old Trafford, buoyed by going close to beating Liverpool last time out, as they drew 1-1 with the Merseysiders at Kenilworth Road.

This is our final game before the latest international break, and a chance to potentially move up the table and lift spirits after what happened in Denmark.

Jonny Evans is the latest injury casualty Erik ten Hag will have to deal with. The Northern Ireland international is a major doubt for Saturday's 15:00 GMT kick-off after being forced off early into the Parken Stadium tie.

"I'm not sure in this moment," the manager said of the experienced centre-back. "He has to come off. I think it was a pity because he was part of it from that good part in the game where we were controlling, very composed and calm, it’s the way I see my team.

"So we have to see how bad it is. It’s not about 11 players. We have more players and we have good players, so we have good replacements to solve that.”

Raphael Varane was the man introduced, to slot in alongside Harry Maguire, on Wednesday night.

Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford returned to the fold and the latter's suspension, of course, only relates to Europe, so he is available.

Amad is back in training, but still recovering full fitness after surgery, while Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw are all injured.

Kobbie Mainoo gained more minutes under his belt in the Under-19s' 2-2 draw with FC Copenhagen at UEFA Youth League level, while Omari Forson was in the senior matchday squad in midweek.

LUTON'S TEAM NEWS

Former Red Tahith Chong scored his first Premier League goal in the draw with Liverpool, and another of our Academy products, Teden Mengi, performed well at the heart of the defence.

Hatters boss Rob Edwards has been hoping his injury situation clears up before the trip north. While we await an update at his press conference, it would appear likely that Mads Andersen, Reece Burke and Dan Potts will miss out.

Amari'i Bell and Albert Sambi Lokonga have both had thigh problems but could be back in contention for Saturday.
