UNITED'S TEAM NEWS
Further first-team members Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez and Facundo Pellistri came back to Carrington earlier this week ahead of the new campaign, following Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Alejandro Garnacho, Altay Bayindir and Joshua Zirkzee's respective returns last week.
This contingent further bolsters Ten Hag's ranks, with the Reds having concluded our pre-season tour of the USA at the weekend.
Leny Yoro recently underwent surgery on a foot injury he sustained in our Tour match against Arsenal, and Rasmus Hojlund also suffered a knock in the same fixture. Tyrell Malacia continues to build his fitness, while Erik confirmed Jonny Evans was ill during United's pre-season loss against Liverpool.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are also doubts for Saturday's game against City, although Erik is expected to give an update on his side when he conducts his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
CITY'S TEAM NEWS
Our local rivals have been recruiting this summer themselves, with Savinho arriving at the Etihad Stadium from Troyes.
Defenders Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Sergio Gomez have departed for Southampton and Real Sociedad, respectively, while midfielder Tommy Doyle has joined Wolves.
Ederson is an injury doubt for Guardiola's team, while Rodri and Rico Lewis are also being assessed ahead of Saturday's game.
