Early team news for Sunday's tie

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag should be able to call upon some fit-again players for Sunday's Emirates FA Cup tie at Newport County.

Luke Shaw could make his comeback after being forced to pull out of our last match, the Premier League draw with Tottenham on 14 January.

The England left-back trained with the squad at Carrington on Tuesday, alongside club and international colleague Harry Maguire, who has been absent since the final UEFA Champions League group game against Bayern Munich.

With Lisandro Martinez coming off the bench in the Spurs game, there would appear to be more defensive options available to the manager.

Update on Martial

 Article

The United striker has completed successful surgery to address a groin complaint.

Anthony Martial is definitely out, with a groin operation set to sideline the striker for a lengthy period, expected to span around 10 weeks.

Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount are also injured, while Andre Onana (Cameroon) and Sofyan Amrabat (Morocco) are still away on Africa Cup of Nations duty in the Ivory Coast.

Onana's absence could mean a debut for Altay Bayindir in goal, although Tom Heaton is also an option for the boss, as the Reds look to take a step closer to Wembley.

Casemiro was an unused sub against Spurs, before the winter break, and Amad has also trained this week after not appearing since coming off the bench in the defeat to Nottingham Forest last month.

The senior squad that has been on duty of late is a bit lighter, following some of the loan moves away from the club during the transfer window.

Hannibal (Sevilla), Donny van de Beek (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Dan Gore (Port Vale) are among those to have departed on a temporary basis.

NEWPORT'S TEAM NEWS

Boyhood United fan Ryan Delaney is set to captain the home side, with manager Graham Coughlan also a Reds supporter in his youth.

Defender Adam Lewis, on loan from Liverpool, is eligible to play and fit again, while Matt Baker returned to the matchday squad for the League Two derby with Wrexham.

Kyle Jameson, Offrande Zanzala and Declan Drysdale are doubts.
