United players return to training

Manchester United's players were photographed working at Carrington on Tuesday morning, after returning from their winter break.

With a fortnight separating the 2-2 draw against Tottenham and our next outing, the Emirates FA Cup fourth-round tie at Newport County on Sunday, Erik ten Hag allowed his squad to enjoy some time off last week.

Sofyan Amrabat and Andre Onana are away at the Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco and Cameroon respectively, but our other players were afforded the opportunity to rest and recuperate with friends and family.

Several Reds shared images of their holidays on social media, but attention has now returned to football and the upcoming trip to Rodney Parade, with fourth-tier Newport beating Eastleigh in last week's third-round replay to set up a first-ever competitive meeting between the sides.

Harry Maguire runs with the ball.

Prior to the pause in action, Ten Hag stated that January would be the month when our injury worries start to ease, and Lisandro Martinez returned to action against Spurs, while Casemiro was an unused substitute at Old Trafford.

Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw have now been pictured among the group in our latest photos, although it is not yet clear if they will be ready to play at the weekend.

Shaw hasn't featured since the 2-0 defeat to West Ham United, just prior to Christmas, although he was a late withdrawal from the Tottenham match, while Maguire is recovering from an issue that led to him being taken off during the first half of the UEFA Champions League home clash with Bayern Munich on 12 December.

The pair were present in wet and windy conditions on Tuesday as Manchester felt the effects of Storm Jocelyn, which has spread miserable weather across the United Kingdom.

And Maguire and Shaw can be seen doing ballwork with the rest of the squad in our exclusive photos from the session.

Amad, who has been absent recently after making his first United appearance in two years at Nottingham Forest, was also spotted at Carrington, alongside young Academy graduates Omari Forson and Kobbie Mainoo.

Aside from Amrabat and Onana - Andre's AFCON fate will be decided this evening - Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial and Mason Mount are United's remaining confirmed absentees ahead of the fixture in South Wales.

Ten Hag could provide an update on the quartet when he holds his press conference on Friday, with an exact time to be confirmed.
