Fans react as Dutch legends return to Old Trafford

Edwin van der Sar and Robin van Persie were among the crowd for Manchester United's Boxing Day fixture with Aston Villa.

It was wonderful to see Edwin make the trip to his former home, with the legendary keeper recovering from a serious health issue in July.

Of course, with van der Sar's Ajax ties, he has previously worked with manager Erik ten Hag and our current man between the posts, Andre Onana, in addition to Antony and Lisandro Martinez.

Robin was also back in M16 and taking in the action against the team he scored a famous hat-trick against in 2013, to clinch the Premier League title.

Van Persie is currently coaching the Feyenoord youth team after hanging up his boots in 2019.

Great to see you, Edwin

Club legend Edwin van der Sar is spending his Boxing Day watching United at Old Trafford...

Van der Sar made 266 appearances for the Reds, after arriving relatively late in his distinguished career, and won four league titles, as well as his heroic contribution to the Champions League triumph in 2008, against Chelsea, in Moscow.

Van Persie fired the Reds to the title in 2012/13 during his first season at the club. The deadly marksman scored 58 goals in 105 games for United.
