Toone: I always go on about Old Trafford!

Wednesday 30 November 2022 13:00

Manchester United Women midfielder Ella Toone is eagerly anticipating the prospect of playing at Old Trafford again when the Reds face Aston Villa this Saturday.

Tooney is a massive United fan and has had the dream-come-true opportunity of featuring on the hallowed turf three times in her career so far.

Ella helped United to wins over West Ham in 2021 (behind closed doors) and Everton earlier this year, before appearing in July’s victory for England over Austria in the opening game of Euro 2022.

With those matches in mind, Toone has been looking forward to the opportunity of featuring at the Theatre of Dreams again, this weekend.

Toone: We can't wait for Old Trafford

Ella Toone is counting down the days to United Women's Theatre of Dreams outing on Saturday...

“Yeah, well, I always go on about it, obviously,” Toone said when asked if she discusses her previous Old Trafford experiences with her team-mates.

“Growing up supporting the club, I know what a special stadium it is, and I’ve been lucky to play on it a few times now.

“I always tell them [our new players who haven’t experienced it yet] it’s like a carpet out there so to just go out and enjoy it.”
In an interview first published in December’s edition of our monthly club magazine, Inside United, Ella went on to preview another special day that awaits on Saturday, and the opportunity to play in front of a big following once more.

“I’m really, really looking forward to it, but I always say that Leigh [Sports Village] is our home and our fortress. We’ve always enjoyed playing there throughout the years and this season as well.

“But occasions like this, where we can have so many more fans in the stadiums and our families and friends watching us at such a big stadium, it’s going to be amazing, and we can’t wait.”
