Three Academy goalkeepers return from loans
Goalkeepers Elyh Harrison, Tom Myles and Tom Wooster have returned to Manchester United after positive four-month loan spells away.
The recall clause in Harrison's loan agreement with National League North side Chester has been activated, ending his temporary stint at the Deva Stadium.
The reigning Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year headed out to gain first-team experience after a stellar 2023/24 campaign for the Academy sides, helping the Under-18s to win the national title Premier League Cup.
Cox: Club award for Harrison is fully deserved
Our Director of Academy, Nick Cox, discusses why goalkeeper Elyh Harrison is Reserve-Team Player of the Year...
Harrison was the only second goalkeeper to win the aforementioned award since its 1990 introduction, and the youngest recipient since Adnan Januzaj in 2013.
Elyh, who turns 19 in February, joined United from Stevenage three years ago and has developed well since, continuing to represent England’s youth sides.
He made a strong start to life with Chester, keeping a clean sheet on his debut against Peteborough Sports, only a day after completing his move to the sixth-tier side. A further six clean sheets followed in his 18 appearances in the National League North. He’ll now return to Carrington to continue his development.
Tom Myles and Tom Wooster are also returning to Carrington
Myles gained his first experience of senior football with Runcorn Linnets and enjoyed a good run of form early on. He made a particularly memorable save against Vauxhall Motors in a 1-0 away win, keeping several clean sheets before injury disrupted his strong progress in the Northern Premier League. On his return, Tom was named Man of the Match in a Liverpool FA Senior Cup penalty shoot-out victory over Ashton Town, having made two spot-kick saves.
Wooster, meanwhile, kept four clean sheets in 11 appearances in National League North, building on previous experiences at Ramsbottom and Macclesfield.
Well done to all three young goalkeepers on positive spells away, and welcome back to Carrington.
