Five young Reds called up for England duty

Five Manchester United players will have the chance to represent England at youth level in the upcoming international break.

James Garner, currently away on loan at Nottingham Forest, is included in Lee Carsley's Under-21s squad for the third consecutive break.

The Young Lions host Czech Republic in a 2023 European Under-21 Championship qualification game. Interested United fans can watch that tie, to be played at Burnley's Turf Moor, either in person by purchasing tickets here, or tuning in to live coverage on Sky Sports. See below for further fixture details.

Garner signed a new contract at United before heading out on loan to Forest.

20-year-old Garner made his debut for the Under-21s in September's win against Kosovo. He picked up a second cap a month later against Andorra. Manager Lee Carsley, who took charge in the summer, was previously responsible for giving Garner his debut at Under-20s level as well.

The midfielder has made 12 appearances so far this term for Nottingham Forest. He'll hope to help England to a more comfortable position in their bid for Euro qualification. The side currently sit third in their group, five points behind leaders Czech Republic. England do, however, have a game in hand.

Garner and his team-mates, who include former United player Angel Gomes, will also travel to Georgia to play a friendly at the Batumi Stadium.

Meanwhile, centre-back Teden Mengi is in the Under-20s set-up. They have only one fixture scheduled as they travel to Portugal for a friendly.

Mengi has captained United this season in the UEFA Youth League, EFL Trophy and Premier League 2. The Manchester-born defender is yet to make his debut for England's Under-20 side, although he has been regularly included in the squads.

Shola Shoretire is part of the Under-19s set-up as they face Andorra, Switzerland and Sweden in Under-19 Euro qualifiers. All three games will be played in Sweden.

Shoretire scored the opening goal in the recent 2-1 victory for United Under-19s against Atalanta.

Winger Sam Mather and attacking midfielder Daniel Gore could both feature for England Under-18s as they travel to Portugal for a four-team tournament in which they'll face the hosts, the Netherlands and Belgium.
