Eric Cantona wore some iconic Manchester United shirts during his time at the club - with the collar up, of course!

Our former French magnifico recently took part in BT Sport’s ‘What I Wore’ feature, which guided Eric through his career by showing him kits from his past.

Included in the walkthrough, along with plenty of Reds shirts, were those from Sheffield United, Leeds and also Sunderland – the club he scored his iconic chip against in 1996.

At the end of the feature, Cantona is asked which two shirts he is most fond of, with the Frenchman opting for United’s 1992-94 home and third kits.

Eric explained that the home shirt holds a place in his heart because it was the shirt we wore when achieving the 1994 Double.

“It was a special moment because it was a new generation of players,” he said of the accolade.

“It was a young, golden generation and we won the Premier League, and then it was a double.

“It was very special.”

In addition to the home strip, Eric also shared his love for the third shirt, from the same time period.

“[I chose this one] because it is the first colour of United, a long time ago,” he said. “We did a picture with the moustache and everything.”

The picture Cantona references is as iconic as the strip he selected, with the Reds first-team squad wearing fake moustaches on their team photo to promote the vintage aspect of a kit which drew inspiration from the very first Newton Heath colours.
