Ten Hag reaffirms faith in Rashford

Erik ten Hag has expressed his desire for Marcus Rashford to prolong his prolific service to Manchester United, after describing the striker's current campaign as "wonderful".

The Dutchman said he believed that Rashford also wanted to stay, but insisted contract talks were not his or the player’s immediate focus.

Ten Hag declared the priority for him and Rashford was closing out the season in style, with the prospect of further goals from the England forward fuelling our drive to finish in the Premier League's top four and win the Emirates FA Cup.

“Marcus wants to stay. We want him to stay. So, I think we will find each other,” said Ten Hag confidently, when asked about the striker's situation.

“But I don't talk about the process. I let it go.”
Rashford has famously scored more times this season than he has in any other term since breaking into United's first team under Ten Hag's compatriot, Louis van Gaal, back in February 2016.

And although his involvement in this weekend's trip to Bournemouth is subject to him overcoming an illness, Marcus would still be fancied to build on his tally of 29 before the season ends on 3 June.

“This [contract process] for me is not important at the moment. Also, for Rashy, not important," added Erik.

“For him it is [important] to be getting more goals in this season. He is playing a wonderful season.
