Ten Hag asked about deadline moves

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been asked if there could be any beat-the-deadline deals involving the club.

During his press conference, the boss was quizzed on whether he would look for replacements for Christian Eriksen, after the midfielder sustained an ankle injury against Reading that will keep him out until April or May.

Although indicating that he felt he had the cover in midfield to cope, Erik did also speak with club media in a separate interview, and was asked by MUTV's Mark Sullivan if he expected any moves before the window closes at 23:00 GMT.

"You never know," Ten Hag replied. "So, in this moment, we are short [for time] before [the window closes]. It’s not what we are aiming for, but it can be some things come along. We have to consider that but I’m not really proactive in the last day of the window.

"We have our squad. We need our squad to fulfil our ambitions."

United have already signed Wout Weghorst this month, on loan from Burnley, plus landed Jack Butland from Crystal Palace on a similar basis, and there could be some outgoings of a temporary nature, with the clock ticking on deadline day.

When asked about potential deals for the likes of Anthony Elanga, Facundo Pellistri and Brandon Williams during his press conference, the boss admitted something could happen but "it depends on certain circumstances".

"If so, it would likely be on loans," he added.

Of course, United are focused on the second leg of our Carabao Cup semi-final with Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night but there may be some form of transfer activity before then.

Look out for the full interview with Erik on matchday morning as the boss also gives his view on the loan system in England, his youngsters and the FA Cup draw with West Ham United, in addition to previewing the game with Forest in detail.
