United's transfers in and out: January 2023
The 2023 January transfer window opened just after midnight on Sunday 1 January and closed at 23:00 GMT on Tuesday 31 January.
Manchester United have made three mid-season additions to the squad.
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland has joined on loan until the end of the 2022/23 season to provide competition in the goalkeeping department, following Martin Dubravka's recall from his season-long loan by Newcastle United.
Burnley striker Wout Weghorst has also arrived on loan during the window, after spending the first part of 2022/23 with Besiktas in Turkey. The 30-year-old Netherlands international adds to Erik ten Hag's attacking options for the remainder of this term.
Late on deadline day, Marcel Sabitzer flew in from Germany to sign on loan. The Bayern Munich midfielder will increase our options in that area after losing Christian Eriksen to injury.
Dubravka's departure, following two Carabao Cup appearances before the turn of the year, was announced at the beginning of the window.
The only other exits so far are temporary ones, with 18-year-old forward Shola Shoretire recruited on loan by Bolton Wanderers to help boost their promotion campaign in League One.
In the same division, Charlie Savage has joined Forest Green Rovers for the remainder of 2022/23. On 30 January, it was confirmed that young goalkeeper Ondrej Mastny would gain experience with Portadown, in Northern Ireland, while Charlie McNeill moved to Newport County, also on loan, on deadline day.
Soon afterwards, Di'Shon Bernard linked up with Portsmouth for the rest of the season on loan. Fellow defender Axel Tuanzebe joined Stoke City for the rest of the term and a triple youth deal was arranged with Altrincham.
