Ten Hag: We're ready for three vital away games

Thursday 23 November 2023 08:00

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is backing his side to deal with the ‘hostile’ environments in which our next three games will be played.

United are about to contest three consecutive away fixtures across competitions, beginning with Sunday's visit to an aggrieved Everton side who have just dropped into the relegation zone following a 10-point deduction.

That will be followed by a trip to Turkey to face Galatasaray in a must-win Champions League encounter, before returning to England for a Premier League clash with Newcastle.

Talking to beIN SPORTS on Wednesday, Ten Hag said we can take confidence from our recent away record. The Reds have won three times in a row on the road, at Burnley, Sheffield United and Fulham, and were seemingly heading for a fourth when dominating the first 40 minutes against Copenhagen in Denmark.

“All games are very important, but our away record this season so far is very good,” he said.

“We can take confidence and strong belief into those games.

“But [we need to] go from game to game, the first game is the most important - Everton - and we’re looking forward [to it].”
A European night away to Galatasaray is set to provide a significant test for the Reds when it comes to dealing with tumultuous atmospheres, just as Copenhagen did prior to the international break.

Until the controversial dismissal of Marcus Rashford, the Reds were in cruise control in that fixture, leading 2-0 and playing some of the team's best football this season.

Lisandro observes his team-mates' preparations as he continues with the early stages of his injury rehabilitation.

“You could see that this team has personality and character in hostile environments, like in Copenhagen,” added the boss.

“We deal with it. I feel quite comfortable [away from home],” he added.

The first of three away fixtures on the bounce kicks off at 16:30 GMT this Sunday, 26 November, at Goodison Park.
