Erik: Mount will be very good for us
Erik ten Hag is confident that Mason Mount can still become an important player for Manchester United, following the midfielder's injuries this season.
Mount, a summer acquisition from Chelsea, and was handed the Reds’ famous no.7 shirt upon his arrival at Old Trafford, but a series of injuries have been prevented the England international from getting a consistent run in the side thus far in 2023/24.
The Champions League winning midfielder, however, has returned to training at Carrington this week, with manager Ten Hag confirming in his pre-match press conference that his return comes at a timely hour – ahead of Liverpool’s visit in the Emirates FA Cup quarter-finals.

And, in part two of his media briefing previewing our contest with the Merseysiders, Ten Hag reiterated his belief in Mount – and sympathised with the challenges he has been posed with as a result of his injuries.
“I’m convinced he will be,” Ten Hag responded, when questioned by reporters about Mount’s motivation to become a key player for the Reds.
“He didn’t have a chance to prove this point, but he will be a very good player for Manchester United.
“It’s really unfortunate, it’s really disappointing for him but also for us when you have such a class player in your middle, and you can’t play him.”

With 10 Premier League games remaining this term, and potentially two more in the FA Cup if United can overcome Liverpool in Sunday’s quarter-final tie, there is still plenty opportunity for Mount to force his way into United’s starting XI.
Ten Hag believes that once Mount is fit and playing, he can be a key part of our team.
“He had three injuries as we all know, so he didn’t any time get in a rhythm,” the boss added.
“But I’m sure when he is fit and he plays he will get into that rhythm and he will contribute to a successful Manchester United, I’m sure.”
