Ten Hag delivers derby team news

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has provided an update on his plans for Saturday's derby with neighbours City at Old Trafford.

The manager, speaking at a press conference to preview the much-anticipated Old Trafford encounter, was asked about the team news at Carrington, where the Reds have been preparing for the 12:30 GMT kick-off.

Prospective loan signing Wout Weghorst will not be available, although Ten Hag admitted a deal with Burnley for the striker is "close".

Diogo Dalot was withdrawn during the first half of the Carabao Cup quarter-final win over Charlton Athletic, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka taking his place.

"I think Diogo Dalot is not available and Anthony Martial, he trained this morning so we have to wait to see how he recovers from this training and if he's available. We will make the decision tomorrow.

"It is a small thing in his leg [with Martial] and, if he is not available for tomorrow, it will be Wednesday [at Crystal Palace]."

Weghorst was not signed before the deadline to play in the fixture, with confirmation still required that the Netherlands international has sealed a loan switch to bolster the club's attacking options.

"Weghorst wasn't available in the last weeks and it could be a bonus if he was," added Ten Hag. "Hopefully, he will soon be there and also we are winning a lot of games without Anthony Martial.''

Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho have both been sidelined of late, and are also set to be out.

CITY'S TEAM NEWS

Ruben Dias is out for the Blues with a hamstring injury and fellow centre-back John Stones is also "not ready" to play, according to manager Pep Guardiola.

The City boss rotated his squad for the previous two cup games, against Chelsea and Southampton, but is likely to recall Ederson in goal, with Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland poised to start after coming off the bench in the midweek defeat at St Mary's.

Kalvin Phillips made his first start for the club on Wednesday but Rodri is expected to anchor the midfield.
