Ten Hag: Players want to sign for us this summer

Erik ten Hag believes Manchester United's improvements this season have made the club an attractive prospect for players in the summer transfer window.

Speaking in the second part of his press conference to preview Saturday’s home match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ten Hag declared that this current campaign should have helped to quash any doubts that prospective signings may have had over the club’s direction.

The Reds are heading into a four-match conclusion to the Premier League season with a Champions League qualification spot still within our grasp.

But when asked whether a top-four finish would dictate United’s transfer pull, the manager replied: “I see a big difference in comparison with last year.”

Erik added, “There were a lot of reservations when I spoke last year with players, [but] now many players see the project that is going on.

“The dynamic and the ambition in this project, and especially the quality. They are really keen to come.”

During last summer’s window, United secured the services of five-time Champions League winner Casemiro as well as Antony, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Cristian Eriksen.

All five players, along with January loanees Wout Weghorst and Marcel Sabitzer, played key roles en route to United lifting the Carabao Cup on 26 February.

While the battle for the top four is ongoing and there is an all-Manchester FA Cup final to look forward to on 3 June, Ten Hag underlined that attitudes towards United have already changed.

“There were a lot of reservations last year, a lot of doubts when we approached players,” Ten Hag said, “This year so many quality players really want to come.”
