Erik ten Hag has explained his Manchester United line-up to face Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League.

The Reds are hunting a third successive victory in Group E, in a bid to keep the pressure on leaders Real Sociedad, who take on Sheriff Tiraspol.

Ten Hag has made three changes to the team that started Sunday's impressive 2-1 win at Everton, resisting any urge for wholesale alterations, with Newcastle United due here at Old Trafford on Sunday in the Premier League.

Cristiano Ronaldo replaces the injured Anthony Martial, as he did during the first half at Goodison Park, while Tyrell Malacia is in at left-back for Luke Shaw.

Christian Eriksen is on the bench, with Fred instead included in the engine room, alongside his Brazil international colleague Casemiro.

“I want to keep the construction in the team," he told BT Sport. "When you make too many changes, then, often, the routines go down and I want to avoid that. I want to keep the good constructions on the pitch but also, a little bit, rotate.”
