Erik's sympathy for travelling Reds

Friday 29 March 2024 15:35

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag sympathises with the Reds fans who will be travelling back from Brentford late on Saturday night.

Our Premier League match against the Bees kicks off at 20:00 GMT, meaning our travelling fans could be heading back up north just as Saturday ticks into Sunday.

Speaking in his exclusive Q&A with club media before United travel to west London, the boss said the commitment shown by our supporters is even more motivation for his team to go and get three points against Thomas Frank's team.

"I feel very sorry for them," he said.

"I don't think it is right.

"We are grateful that they are there. We know they will come with a lot, it will be sold out in the area of Manchester United.

"So we have to give them the win. We have to give them the right performance for them and I feel sorry for them that it is difficult to travel back to Manchester."

The last time we played the Bees was in October, when Scott McTominay's injury-time double snatched victory from the jaws of defeat at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag appreciates the strength of Frank's side, and emphasised the importance of matching the Bees' work rate on Saturday.

"It's a very strong team," he said.

The boss has addressed Lisandro’s availability for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Brentford.

"They have very good performances, they are very hard to beat.

"When you don't give 100 per cent you don't win there, so from the first moment on we have to put everything in this game to get the win."

Erik's full Matchday Q&A will be available to watch in our app and on ManUtd.com from 08:00 GMT on Saturday.
