Ten Hag's team news for Turf Moor

Erik ten Hag has provided an update on the injury front ahead of Manchester United's Premier League match with Burnley.

During his press conference at Carrington, the boss was asked about the potential availability of Raphael Varane, Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat, Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire, with the suggestion the latter could be closest to a return after he did not travel to Germany for the Bayern Munich defeat, due to feeling some discomfort after training.

"Maybe, as you say, Harry Maguire," replied Ten Hag. "We will see better after training [on Friday afternoon]. But Varane will train and we will see. Amrabat, he will train and we will see. Mount, as well, but they all didn't play for a short or longer term.

"Varane, obviously, was the shortest [time] out."

Saturday's 20:00 BST kick-off presents an opportunity to get back to form, ahead of a home double header in the Carabao Cup and league with Crystal Palace.

Facundo Pellistri is a contender to make his first start in the English top flight after being in the XI at the Allianz Arena, while Rasmus Hojlund will be hoping to follow up his first goal for the club with a maiden strike in the division.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag confirmed Jadon Sancho will not be in the squad, while the likes of Malacia, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Amad and Antony are still unavailable. Young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo only returned to individual training this week, after sustaining an injury during the pre-season friendly with Real Madrid.

BURNLEY'S TEAM NEWS

The Clarets are without leading scorer Lyle Foster, following his late red card in the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest that has incurred a three-match suspension.

Manager Vincent Kompany revealed there were no injury worries for his squad so Vitinho could be available again after a knee problem.

"Other than Lyle being suspended," the former City captain said at his pre-match press conference. "We still have to manage that situation but everyone is healthy and is ready to have a go on Saturday."

Jay Rodriguez, who has scored four times against us in the past, could deputise for Foster while Hjalmar Ekdal, Darko Churlinov and Michael Obafemi are still likely to be out.
