Update on Reds' Danish duo

Erik ten Hag has given a progress report on two players’ recoveries from injury ahead of our visit to Everton on Sunday.

The manager confirmed that Christian Eriksen needs more time before he will be ready to return, while Rasmus Hojlund’s availability for the trip to Goodison Park remains in the balance.

Denmark's duo missed international matches for their country during the break, as the Danes clinched a place at the European Championship in Germany next summer.

Both were injured during our 1-0 victory over Luton Town last time out, and will be working hard to get fit with a busy schedule on the horizon, as trips to Galatasaray and Newcastle United follow Sunday's test on Merseyside.

Eriksen sustained a knee problem, while a muscle strain forced Hojlund off in the closing stages against the Hatters.

Christian Eriksen is set to remain out of action.

"Christian will take a little bit longer," Erik ten Hag told the Premier League. "It will take some weeks until he will return.

"Rasmus Hojlund, not too bad. Everton will be a close finish but we're working on that.

"We're not sure if he can make that but, hopefully, in the next week, he will return to the squad."

The club's previous update, issued on 13 November, suggested Eriksen would miss a month of action and that Hojlund would hopefully return before the end of November.

It will be hoped that Hojlund can make the flight to Istanbul next Tuesday and not just because he has five goals already in the UEFA Champions League.

The Reds are without Marcus Rashford for the Galatasaray contest, which is looking like a must-win fixture, following his controversial red card against FC Copenhagen in the competition.

Ten Hag, of course, is suspended for Sunday's clash at Everton and will not be on the touchline after accumulating three yellow cards.
