Ten Hag: Shaw's the best in the country

Shaw has been one of the standout performers for the Reds this season, and has put pen-to-paper on a new deal to extend his stay at Old Trafford until June 2027, which will take him beyond a decade at the club.

Utilised at both centre-back and left-back, Luke has been trusted by Erik to adapt, and he has thrived.

The Dutchman was quick to praise the 27-year-old, who he says is having a "great season," after one goal, six assists and his contribution to our Carabao Cup success.

"[He's had a] great, great season so far," Erik began. "[He's made] great progress, so I think it's really good news for Manchester United that he stays playing for Manchester United.

"I think it tells everything, he's the best left full-back in the UK. You see it also in the England team, he is performing so well there as well.

"So we are really happy that he extended his contract and that he stays longer with us and is going with us in this project and in this journey.

"We have high ambitions and we need Luke Shaw to fulfil those ambitions."

In an exclusive interview with club media, Luke expressed the same excitement as his manager.

"From my perspective, I think the club is going in the right direction and I'm sure everyone can see that," the experienced defender said.

"I have big ambitions to stay here and win titles with this new manager and his new ideas. I'm really looking forward to it."
