Ten Hag provides Shaw injury update

Sunday 18 February 2024 19:24

Erik ten Hag has provided further context as to why he opted to substitute defender Luke Shaw in the first half of our victory over Luton Town.

United continued our unbeaten run in 2024 with a 2-1 victory at Kenilworth Road thanks to a quickfire early brace from Rasmus Hojlund.

Carlton Morris pulled one back for the Hatters and Shaw, who was also booked in a frantic opening 45 minutes, was replaced by Victor Lindelof shortly before the break

Erik was asked to provide further information on the England international's condition after the match.

Rasmus Hojlund's early double is enough to secure another win on the road for Erik ten Hag's Reds.

Asked on the severity of his injury in his post-match press conference, Erik stated it was not a knock for Shaw.

The 28-year-old was replaced by the same player, Lindelof, in our 2-1 win against Aston Villa a week ago, but worked hard to be ready for this encounter in Bedfordshire.

Shaw has only featured 14 times so far this campaign, having suffered two separate injuries which kept him out for a combined four months.
"I can’t tell," added the United boss, when asked by BBC Radio Five Live about the severity of this latest issue.

"We have to wait minimum until tomorrow to see what’s going on.

"Clear, when you come off, it doesn’t look great."

The Reds return to action against Fulham next weekend, with the Cottagers visiting Old Trafford on Saturday (15:00 GMT).

Stay tuned for further updates across our official platforms throughout the week, ahead of the meeting with Marco Silva's side.
