Ten Hag: The future at United is bright

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag insists the future looks bright as the Reds recorded a 3-0 home victory over West Ham United in the Premier League.

Goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho (two) helped United ease past the Hammers, as we posted our third victory in just seven days in all competitions.

Stifling David Moyes's side for much of the contest, the Reds moved up to sixth in the Premier League table in the process and kept a first clean sheet in M16 since our 1-0 win over Luton Town back in November.

Speaking to MUTV, BBC, Sky Sports and more official broadcasters following our win, Erik provided his thoughts on a standout display from his side...

Ten Hag: We scored in the right moments

Erik ten Hag says the timing of United's goals against West Ham was important, as we sunk the Hammers 3-0...

BUILDING BLOCKS

"As I said before, if we didn't build on Thursday, if we didn't win today, [that game] would have, therefore, meant nothing. That was our challenge before, so I must compliment them on that with the way we played. Our threat was great overall and our frontline stepped up and you see the speed, tempo, intuition, creation, they can step up and they can score the goals. If we are in it all together, it is really difficult to defend against this."

HOJLUND'S RED-HOT FORM

"You see his confidence is growing. He is also then playing better on the ball, he is a target, he is linking up, he gets himself in the box all the time. It is all about togetherness and those three, Hojlund, Garnacho and Rashy [Marcus Rashford] and then in the back, like Bruno [Fernandes] who served them. They you have [Kobbie] Mainoo, Casemiro and, of course, the full-backs who can contribute to that and you saw today that they are a threat when they do that."
MOVING FORWARD

"People must recognise the position we are in, we are Manchester United and we are building a team. We are getting players back, and that will now help us definitely, but are building a team. We signed young players and we are giving young players opportunities, like Rasmus Hojlund, Garnacho, Mainoo, this is the process that goes with ups and downs. We must recognise that and the experienced players [Raphael] Varane, [Harry] Maguire, [Luke] Shaw they will help them to get over the line."

The manager admits things do not look good for Licha after he appeared to suffer a knee injury.

GARNACHO ON THE RIGHT

"Very [happy], there are times we has to get used to this position because he prefers it a little bit more on the left. Now he is on the right, he has freedom and fluidity in the game where he can find the spaces. We know he is good in his attacking and dribbling and creating. He can be direct but he can also secure the ball, so I am impressed in the performance and I am impressed that, even during the third game in seven days, he is performing. This what it means to be a Manchester United player."

PRAISE FOR OTHERS

"Don't forget what is behind that, everyone is attacking, also our full-backs are involved, [Kobbie] Mainoo is there, Casemiro is there. He wins the ball on the first goal and in the counter-press he helps Rasmus Hojlund score that goal."
