Ten Hag reveals team news for Anfield

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has discussed his squad ahead of this weekend's away game at Liverpool.

The Reds travel to the Premier League leaders looking to prevent the Merseysiders from maintaining their 100 per cent record at home this term.

Anfield has been a fortress for the hosts and a far from happy place for United to go in recent seasons, but there is some positive news on the injury and illness front in advance of Sunday's 16:30 GMT kick-off.

United captain Bruno Fernandes is suspended after accruing five yellow cards in the league, following his booking against Bournemouth last weekend.

Harry Maguire has been ruled out after being withdrawn in the first half of the defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League but his fellow England defender Luke Shaw will hopefully be available, despite going off at half-time on Tuesday.

In terms of the attack, Marcus Rashford should be back after illness, but not Anthony Martial.

''Harry [Maguire], he will not be available for the coming games," explained the boss at his press conference. "But we don't think it is for the long term. Luke Shaw, he trained this morning. So we think he is available for Sunday.

"Marcus Rashford. He will [be back, but] Martial not.''

Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen look certain to remain out.

LIVERPOOL'S TEAM NEWS

Jurgen Klopp reported no fresh knocks from the 2-1 Europa League defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday, as he played a much-changed side in Belgium.

The likes of Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah were all rested for the dead rubber.

"Nobody got hurt," said Klopp. "Nobody is injured, so we recover, go home and go again.

"We just wanted to share the intensity," he said of his line-up. "Do I want to play Joe Gomez 90 or Ibou [Ibrahima Konata] 90, if we had the chance to do that? [So I decided on] 45 and 45, the same in midfield. These changes were planned before the game, independent of the result."

The hosts look set to be without Joel Matip, Andy Robertson, Alexis Mac Allister, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic and Diogo Jota.
