Ten Hag reveals team news for Sheriff test
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has issued an update on his squad for Thursday's Europa League game away to Sheriff Tiraspol.
The Reds continue proceedings in Group E at the Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau, looking to bounce back from the opening-day defeat to Real Sociedad.
Ten Hag's players have had a full week to prepare for the trip to Moldova, given last weekend's Premier League fixtures were postponed as a mark of respect after Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away.
The Dutchman rotated his side against La Real last week, and he could make further changes in the showdown with Sheriff, as he looks for his first European win as United boss.
Final training preparations
United trained at Carrington earlier today, in our final UK session before Thursday's Europa League match...
"He is not available," confirmed Ten Hag, when asked about the striker.
"It is still the [same] consequence after Arsenal. He has a muscle injury."
"I don't think [he will be out] too long.
"It's not really bad and we expect him back quite soon in the team."
"I think this season he has had a great comeback and he has showed his great potential and quality," praised the Reds' boss.
The other absentees from United's flight to Moldova included Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka but Ten Hag still has a strong 25-man squad to select from.
Cristiano Ronaldo is also in the group but when it was put to him that the local fans in Chisinau wanted to know whether our no.7 would start, Ten Hag teased in response: "I'm sorry but the Moldovan fans have to wait until tomorrow."
The United team to face Sheriff Tiraspol will be announced at 16:30 BST, 75 minutes before kick-off, on ManUtd.com and in the United App.
