Ten Hag: At United, we fight together

The Reds travel to Burnley for Saturday’s 20:00 BST kick-off trying to halt a run of three straight defeats, with the 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich following Premier League reverses against Arsenal and Brighton and Hove Albion.

United are 13th at this early stage in the top-flight season but, amid some negative media coverage, the Dutchman pointed out that everyone at Carrington is pulling in the same direction as we seek an improvement in form.

“So this is my second year, and I know it’s not always going up,” Ten Hag told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

“You will have your gaps and you get stronger from it, as long as you stay together and that is what we are doing.

“I think the dressing room and staff - all the staff, so coaches, medical, bigger staff - everyone is United. At United, you fight [together].”

Turf Moor is a ground where the Reds are unbeaten in our last seven visits and, on the face of it, a game against a team still without a win since their promotion to the Premier League could be seen as a perfect tonic.

However, the Clarets did get off the mark on Monday with a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest after three home defeats to start the campaign. And after going up against Vincent Kompany’s side in last season’s Carabao Cup, Ten Hag is wary of the problems Burnley's exciting young players could cause if United aren’t fully prepared.

“As always, it's about how we play against Burnley,” he added.

“There is never any easy games and definitely not against Burnley, we know how intense they play football, I know their approach.

“I must say, I like the approach from them, the adventure and the high intensity and also the dynamic outfit. So yeah, we have to play our best.”
