Erik: We'll need Forson and Amad

Erik ten Hag says Manchester United are going to need Omari Forson and Amad for the challenges that lie ahead.

The manager felt Forson made a promising first senior start, in the 2-1 home defeat to Fulham, while Amad provided some positivity when coming off the bench in the 80th minute.

In a post-match interview with the BBC, Ten Hag was asked about the young pair's impact, the very late introduction of Antony and the right-wing options in general, with Rasmus Hojlund's injury leading to a reshuffle in the forward line.

Erik ten Hag gives his thoughts on our defeat to Fulham in M16...

When it came to assessing Forson's display, the boss said: "I think it was reasonable. He had some good actions. He was reliable in defending and had some good actions in possession. I saw, for his first time, he did well."

Amad came on during the Premier League game at Nottingham Forest and will hope to be involved at The City Ground, when the Emirates FA Cup fifth-round tie takes place on Wednesday night.

"Amad looks very sharp," Erik added. "I think it was a good sub [performance] from him. I think that's good for the future. We need them because we have our problems in the frontline. So it's about them, to show they can contribute to this team, that they can have an end product but also to show liability."

The boss was also asked why Antony was introduced in the dying seconds, as he made it clear that the Brazilian is still very much in his thoughts.

"No, it was nothing to do with fitness," he clarified. "He is fit but we have many options over on the right side. We have a lack in other positions due to injury. With that form in the Autumn, we have all seen, he [Antony] has to step up.

"I see it in training, also others like Omari, Amad and [Alejandro] Garnacho, and others they deserve to play."
