Ten Hag: We want to bring our vibe across the world

Saturday 22 July 2023 06:58

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag insists he and his players are aiming to make a connection with every single one of our supporters across the world.

The Reds are currently over in the US as we prepare for the first of four pre-season encounters on Tour 2023, with fellow Premier League side Arsenal first to come at 22:00 BST - you can watch the game live over on MUTV.

Having only arrived in the States just a few days ago, our clash with the Gunners has been confirmed as a sell out, with over 80,000 supporters expected inside the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Exclusive | Erik ten Hag discusses Tour 2023, his new signings and why our fans can look forward to the new season...

''I'm so happy we are here and we want to make that connection with the fans in the USA,'' said the boss, when speaking to former forward Danny Webber for MUTV.

''And because we worked in the UK in Manchester, very hard on it every time. It's a pleasure to enter Old Trafford, but we want to bring that vibe also over the whole world, everywhere.

''We want to affect them with the fires of Manchester United and we want to construct a strong bond and togetherness that we want to be successful as a football club.

''We want to achieve the highest. So we need not only togetherness on the pitch, but also we need that togetherness and connection on the pitch with our fans.''

Having already added Mason Mount to his ranks, Internazionale goalkeeper Andre Onana was also announced as our latest capture earlier this week, linking up with Ten Hag once more following their spell together at Ajax.

With two additions already through the door, Erik is keen for both players to use pre-season as the perfect time to settle in, with plenty of time before United's Premier League opener against Wolves on 14 August.

New Jersey is the first stop on Tour 2023, with Arsenal the opponents.

''Yeah, we tried to get that done,'' Erik said ,when asked if it helps for new signings to be completed as quickly in the summer as possible.

''It's not always easy, but yeah, luckily we have Mason, we have Andre, so they can immediately integrate in the team process, immediately integrate in a way of play.

''I said we have a good base. So, from that foundation, we have to build on [it]. So now we have to let them get them in the game, in our game.

''And so they have to learn what are our principles, what are our rules of the way of play? And we have some weeks to get that in and, therefore, it's pre-season.''
