Ten Hag's team news for Fulham trip

Friday 03 November 2023 13:34

Erik ten Hag has delivered an update on his squad ahead of Manchester United's Premier League visit to Fulham.

The manager spoke to the media in his usual pre-match press conference, just an hour or so after the club confirmed how long Casemiro is expected to be ruled out.

The Brazilian is set to miss several weeks of action after sustaining a hamstring injury on Wednesday night, during the first half of our Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United.
Ten Hag's only addition to his absent or doubtful list was Victor Lindelof.

"From illness," explained Erik. "We have to see if he is ready for tomorrow."

On a more positive note, Lindelof's fellow centre-back Raphael Varane could feature against the Cottagers.

"Varane is ready to play," confirmed the manager.

"He will be travelling with the squad."

The Frenchman was an unused substitute for the Newcastle game, as Ten Hag made seven alterations from his previous starting line-up, in the Manchester derby.

Lindelof and Harry Maguire were paired at the heart of the rearguard against the Magpies, while Diogo Dalot and Sergio Reguilon, making only his fifth start of the season, were the full-backs.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka came off the bench at half-time in the Carabao Cup tie to clock up his first minutes on the pitch since 16 September.

Our hosts for the Premier League's Saturday lunchtime fixture (kick-off 12:30 GMT) should also revert to a more familiar line-up, after manager Marco Silva freshened up his side for their midweek Carabao Cup win away to Championship high-flyers Ipswich Town.

"We made eight changes to our starting 11," said the Portuguese, in his post-match press conference at Portman Road.

"Even then, we probably needed more because we have an early kick-off on Saturday."

Like United, Fulham have had injury problems in central defence. Former England youth international Tosin Adarabioyo is edging closer to a return after being out of action since late August, and French centre-back Issa Diop has also missed the London club's last five games.

Silva told club media that he will make a decision on whether Dutch right-back Kenny Tete, another recent absentee, is ready to face United but said former Wolves forward Adama Traore will need more time to recover from his hamstring injury.

The teams will be announced on ManUtd.com and in the United App at 11:30 GMT on Saturday.
