Ten Hag's team news for FA Cup semi-final

Erik ten Hag declared it was too soon after the Sevilla defeat to report any team news for Sunday's Emirates FA Cup semi-final against Brighton & Hove Albion, when he held his pre-match press conference late on Friday afternoon.

The boss did say the players are shaping up 'quite good' but he would need to see the squad's evening training session before having a full picture.

"It is so short after the [final] whistle in Seville so I can't give a comment on it," Ten Hag told the media.

"We didn't train [yet], after training I will know more."

Bruno Fernandes is set to be available again for the Reds, having missed our Europa League away leg against Sevilla through suspension.

Harry Maguire, however, will not be eligible for selection due to an accumulation of yellow cards, completed by one in our quarter-final win over Fulham.

With the injured Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane also out of action, it would seem that Victor Lindelof and the versatile Luke Shaw are the strongest candidates to play at centre-back on Sunday.

Tyrell Malacia returned to the matchday squad for Thursday night’s game, after initially missing last Sunday’s trip to Forest, and could be an option to play at left-back instead of Shaw. Diogo Dalot would also be considered for that role, having been deployed there in our last two games.

It remains to be seen whether Anthony Martial is fit to start again, after he was withdrawn from Thursday's clash in Spain due to an injury. Meanwhile, midfielder Scott McTominay missed the trip altogether, to continue his recovery from a recent injury, and is expected to be out for a few more games.
