Erik: Moves unlikely for Jones, Tuanzebe and Williams

Erik ten Hag has suggested that Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams are unlikely to leave the club before the end of the summer transfer window.

The boss was speaking to members of the media ahead of Saturday's Premier League game away at Southampton (12:30 BST), and was asked about potential departures before next Thursday's transfer deadline.

Numerous players have already left the club since the end of last season, with Eric Bailly 's loan move to Olympique Marseille the latest deal to reach completion.

Eric joins a French club for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

But Ten Hag believes that current injury problems make it unlikely that Jones, Tuanzebe and Williams will follow suit.

“Am I expecting more players to go out? It can be,” began the manager.

“But who you are talking about, they are in this moment not available. So I don't think they will go out in this window.”
Williams and Tuanzebe both spent last season out on loan – Brandon at Norwich City and Axel at Aston Villa and Napoli, respectively – while Jones was limited to just five appearances.

But it seems that, until their current injuries are overcome, the group will remain at United.

Ten Hag also confirmed that Anthony Martial will miss the Southampton game due to an Achilles problem picked up during Monday's win over Liverpool.

There was better news elsewhere in the press conference, though, with the boss hinting that new signing Casemiro could be in line to make his first-team debut on the south coast.
