Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says he has had a “very positive” meeting with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, following the INEOS chairman’s investment in the club, subject to regulatory approvals.

The boss was asked about it during his press conference to preview Monday’s Emirates FA Cup third-round tie away to Wigan Athletic.

Speaking to reporters at Carrington on Thursday afternoon, Ten Hag also answered questions on Andre Onana’s availability, contract extensions and injuries.

Below, you can read every word from the first part of the media briefing. The second part will be released at 22:30 GMT on Sunday.

Press conference part one | Erik ten Hag answers questions on Andre Onana, injuries, contracts, INEOS and Wigan away...

Could you just update us first of all on Andre Onana and whether he'll be available for Monday, and also the Tottenham game, which is clearly very close to Cameroon's first game at the Africa Cup of Nations?
"So, we're talking with [the] Cameroon Federation. It was an issue during the talks with Andre when he came in here, and it's constructive, so we will see."

So you don't know yet?
"I don't know yet, but he will be there for the game against Wigan."

Could you also just update us... we've been told the club has triggered an extension on Aaron Wan-Bissaka's contract but there are other players in similar situations like Lindelof, Hannibal, Varane and Martial. Are all those options being triggered? Or some? Or none?
"We are talking with Rapha Varane and with Anthony Martial, and we have triggered the options on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Hannibal."

Right, and why are you talking to the other two rather than just doing it?
"I think that is an internal discussion between the club and the player."
Erik, what's happening now with Jadon Sancho? How far along is this potential loan move to Borussia Dortmund?
"I can't say anything about this, we have to wait and see how things are going. When we have news, of course, we will tell you."

In broader terms though, with it being a loan deal, does that say he still has a future here at Manchester United? Or is it more that Borussia Dortmund would only want to take him on loan just now?
"So, as I say, I can't say anything about this subject because there is no news."

Yourself and the players have met with Sir Jim Ratcliffe this week. How positive was the meeting from your perspective and what can you tell us about what was discussed?
"Very positive, I have to say. We had a long meeting, for many hours we sat together. We were, on many issues, on the same page, so very positive. I think also from both sides I can say that it was a very constructive meeting and we're looking forward to working with each other."

The manager provides an update on several players' deals with the club.

Erik, as a result of those meetings, how much do you expect to change, when they take over footballing operations?
"I think it's very short [since the deal was announced], and also, we have to let it settle down. They're just coming in, they're just introducing themselves, they have good ideas. We have to see what we can integrate, in togetherness we will work, but after one day, you can't tell that."

So, even though the meeting was many hours, have you still a lot to learn about what their ideas are for the club?
"No. No, they have given me a few. We have had our debates, our points about strategies, and I think we will come together."

Erik, on the injury front, are we able to see any more fresh faces for the game against Wigan or are they still not ready?
"No. I think we will have more or less the same squad as against Nottingham Forest."

Part two of the press conference will be available from 22:30 GMT on Sunday 7 January.
