Amad Diallo enjoyed his first day at the Aon Training Complex this week and, after completing his work on the pitch and in the gym, the winger sat down with us to discuss his delight at finally becoming a Manchester United player.

The 18-year-old spoke to club media's Mark Sullivan about his move from Atalanta and Amad revealed he's already been helped a lot with the settling-in process by one of his new team-mates...

Welcome to Manchester United. How does it feel to finally arrive here to the club?
“I’m over the moon to be here. I’m so excited to start here at Manchester United. It’s a dream come true and I can’t wait to start and play with the guys.”

The transfer was announced back in October so what have the last few months been like for you?
“It’s been a little bit strange these last few months. I would have hoped to have played a little bit more with Atalanta, but it wasn’t possible. Now I’m here and I’m very happy to be here and I’m expecting a lot from my experience here. I’m looking forward to starting.”

Our new signing says he cannot wait to get started at United, following his recent move from Atalanta...

How much more can you develop as a player?
“I’m only young, only 18, so there is still a long way ahead for me. I want to learn and progress and I will be listening to the more experienced players here and the coach, and I’ll do my best and work hard to succeed.”

How excited are you to link up with our fantastic coaching staff and world-class players?
“To be honest I cannot wait, I’m so excited at the prospect of working with these fantastic people at such a great club. This adventure is about to start and I’m really, really excited and over the moon.”

Of course we have a fellow Ivorian in the ranks, Eric Bailly. How helpful will it be to have him here as you settle in at the club?
“Absolutely, Eric will be a definite reference point for me. I’ve actually already been in touch with him over the last few months and we’ve been chatting. I’ll be asking him for advice and will be listening to all he says, and also the other players who speak French and Italian like [Paul] Pogba for example, he will be another good reference point for me.”

How grateful are you to Atalanta for aiding your development?
“I’ll always be grateful to Atalanta, they’re fantastic people starting from the coach to the president of the club. They have always supported me and have always been there for me, so huge thanks to them of course and it’s thanks to them that I am here now.”

What do you hope to achieve at this football club?
“I’m a little bit too anxious to say this given it’s just the start [of my time here] but my dream is to win the Premier League and the Champions League with Manchester United. That is my aim and goal.”

Your family must be very proud to see you join United?
“Yes absolutely. My family has always been there for me and supported me along the way. As soon as the opportunity came for me to join United they obviously gave me great support. They are proud of me and I thank them a lot.”

What’s your message to the millions & millions of United fans all over the world?
“I’d like to say a big hello to all the supporters around the world of Manchester United and I cannot wait to start my experience here.”
