“I am really enjoying being here with team-mates and learning a lot of things.

“It’s the first time I have had friendlies like this. I thought it was going to be the stadium half-empty before entering the pitch but then, I hear a sound that surprised me! The stadium is full, the fans. It's all crazy.”

Diego has been taking regular English lessons since joining United, and his teacher tells us that Leon is working hard and making good progress. He conducted this first quick catch-up after training in Spanish, and there are enough Spanish-speaking players in the squad to help him feel very well settled.

“I talk with almost all of the players and they advise me, both on the pitch and personally,” Diego said.

Diego smiling with Manuel Ugarte, one of many older players helping him settle in.

“And the coaches are also teaching me a lot of things to be able to better polish my game.”
