What do the Manchester United players think of Bryan Mbeumo?

The Cameroon international has proved a big hit with supporters since signing on the dotted line from Brentford last month, and it may not come as a surprise to learn that our no.19 has been a popular addition to the Old Trafford dressing room too.

In the second episode of our ‘First Impressions’ series, nine Reds rate Bryan, all of them very highly…

Matthijs de Ligt: “He’s a really nice guy, really humble. It’s really nice speaking to him. I really like him as a person. His finishing, his speed, his strength: he’s a really good player and obviously he already showed it in the Premier League, so I think he can be a really good player for us and he can help us a lot. I think he’s not even fit yet, he knows he has to work hard, because obviously he’s been short of pre-season because he didn’t train at Brentford. I think he’s already shown so much quality but when he becomes even more fit, you’ll see the real potential coming out. I can’t wait to see that, because it will help us as a team massively.”

FIRST IMPRESSIONS | Nine Reds reveal how the ‘humble but funny’ Bryan Mbeumo is doing at United…

Tom Heaton: “He’s been fantastic in the Premier League and obviously last season he scored a lot of goals. He’s a real powerful player and he complements the squad really well in terms of that. His ability with that crossing with his left, it’s a real problem for defenders. I think he’ll be a great addition. Having known a few players who have played with him, they’ve filled me in on how good he is and how good a guy he is. Ben Mee told me he’s a great guy and a really, really talented player. First day I reminded him of when Andre [Onana] ran up the pitch for Cameroon – I don’t know if you’ve seen it – and was telling him where to put a free-kick on the edge of the box! We had a bit of craic about that on day one, so he’ll be a massive addition to the football club.”

Manuel Ugarte: “Bryan is a little bit quieter. He also speaks French, I haven’t spoke it much with him [yet]. He’s also humble, quiet but very happy. A cool group is forming. They [new signings] arrived very well, we received them well and I think they’ve adapted very well. He’s very powerful — very powerful! For him it’s easy to score. It’s important and I hope the both of them [Matheus and Bryan] can have a very good season.”

Casemiro: “Well, Bryan! He gave us a lot of trouble in his previous team, Brentford. I hope he’ll continue to do the same work to other teams! We know him from how it is to play against him, and I think he’s adapted [here] now. You can tell that he’s a very good player. But as I said, always, always, when we played against him, he gave us so much trouble. He gave us so many problems. We had to fight very hard against him so his quality now is no surprise for us.”

Tyler Fredricson: “He’s a really strong player, really fast and good in the box. Once you get to know him, he’s a bit louder than everyone makes out. Again, he’s a top guy and very funny as well. He’s maybe a bit quieter than Matheus, but he’s just a really nice, down-to-earth guy who gets along with everyone. He can deliver great balls into the box, as we know from what he’s done in the past. He’s a great player and can provide us with a lot this season.”

Kobbie Mainoo: “Seeing what he’s done over the last few seasons, the amount of goals he scores and the quality he has, to bring him here I was always excited to see that. Really quick, really strong and with a great touch as well. It’s been amazing playing with him after the season he had – lots of goals, lots of assists so he’ll bring something special and unique to the team.”

Ayden Heaven: “He’s a great player obviously, left-footed and he’s got a couple of tricks up his sleeve if I’m being honest. He’s just like Cunha, I’m really excited to see what he can bring to us and the team. He scored a lot of goals and that can help in our team, scoring more, so bringing that as well. With Bryan, that puts us in the best place.”

Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu: “He’s a really good guy, a chilled guy and funny as well. He was here in pre-season and he’s integrated very well with the team. He has power and he’s fast, he’s good at driving with the ball, good finishing, good crossing. He’s a top player.”

Diego Leon: “Bryan I’m only just seeing recently, but what I’ve seen has surprised me: the technical ability with the ball, and he’s a phenomenal player.”
