First-teamers in Under-23s side on Friday
Manchester United's Under-23s will be bolstered by some first-team representation when Everton visit Leigh Sports Village tonight (Friday).
The 19:00 BST kick-off in Premier League 2 is live on MUTV and should provide the first opportunity for Reds fans across the globe to get a glimpse of Facundo Pellistri in the United shirt.
The young Uruguayan has been on the bench for the senior side but is set to get some action against the Toffees' Under-23s.
The South American is not alone in being introduced from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad as defenders Marcos Rojo and Brandon Williams are also due to feature.
Rojo looks set to start at centre-back, after returning from Argentina and being named in our official Premier League squad earlier this week, with full-back Williams set for an outing at this level.
"It is a different bubble so, with the current regulations, they can’t go on the same coach, they can’t be in the same dressing room, with all the testing and things," explained Ole to MUTV. "That’s complicated things a little bit but, then again, if we take precautions and they travel by themselves and if they’re not in the dressing room or in the meeting, which isn’t great for a coach not to have his whole team.
“But tonight we’ll have a few [playing]. Facundo will play tonight to get his first taste of English football, Marcos Rojo will play because he needs to build up his fitness and Brandon’s going to play. He needs minutes as well. He’s a played a little bit this season and for the Under-21s for England and for us, but just needs to keep that match fitness then we know they’re ready for next week.”
Neil Wood's side drew 3-3 with an experienced Arsenal last time out and it promises to be another entertaining affair.
