Fans approaching Old Trafford

United v Newcastle: Five things to know

Thursday 09 September 2021 14:00

Excitement is building for the return of Premier League action this weekend. Here are the key things to know for those attending Saturday’s game against Newcastle…

TRAFFIC AND PARKING

It is going to be another busy day in Manchester with music events taking place in the city alongside the big match at Old Trafford. This means that the roads and public transport services will be busier than usual so expect delays and plan to arrive early.

We strongly encourage all fans to arrive at least 90 minutes before kick-off to avoid queues and congestion – check www.tfgm.com/man-utd to plan your journey.

COVID-19 certification to be introduced

Fans attending matches from this Saturday should be prepared to have their COVID status checked.

COVID CERTIFICATION CHECKS

In line with the rest of the Premier League, we will begin COVID certification spot checks on Saturday. This is a trial ahead of an expected mandatory roll-out next month. Fans should come prepared to demonstrate that they are fully vaccinated or have had a negative test within 48 hours of the kick-off. Exemptions apply. For more information – click here.

DIGITAL TICKETING

Fans will be getting used to the digital ticketing system which has been in operation over the past few matches. To help ensure a smooth entry into the stadium, fans should download their ticket onto their smartphone and have it ready to be scanned upon arrival at the turnstile.

CARD PAYMENTS ONLY

The Megastore and kiosks around the stadium will only be accepting card payments – cash will not be accepted. Also, due to the expected volume of traffic through the Megastore, shirt printing will not be possible on matchday.

REMEMBERING MAURICE WATKINS

There will be a minute’s applause for our former director Maurice Watkins. Please be in your seats before kick-off to join us in paying our respects.

Enjoy the game!
