Fixtures: Date change for Chelsea v United

Tuesday 30 August 2022 15:00

Manchester United's busy October schedule has been altered, with the Chelsea away match being given a new date.

The Premier League has announced that the top-flight game at Stamford Bridge will be brought forward by one day, from Sunday 23 to Saturday 22 October. However, the new kick-off time is still to be confirmed.

As a fixture of perennial interest, the Reds' trip to Chelsea had been selected for live TV coverage in the UK, on the Sunday afternoon, by Sky Sports.

In last season's corresponding fixture, Jadon Sancho put United in front with his first Premier League goal for the club, before Jorginho's penalty made the final score 1-1.

The other item of fixture news concerning United today is confirmation that the Manchester derby will not be moved again and will therefore be played at City's Etihad Stadium on Sunday 2 October at 14:00 BST.

It was initially switched to that date when the latest round of TV selections was released, again having been chosen for a Sky Sports broadcast.

At the time, it was still subject to change in the event that City were drawn to play in the Champions League on the following Tuesday but the Blues' home game against FC Copenhagen has instead been scheduled for Wednesday 5 October.
Today's news, coupled with Saturday's release of the Europa League fixtures, means the October itinerary now looks like this:
