Manchester United can confirm that Fran Bentley and Kirsty Smith will remain at the club until the end of the 2020/21 season after both players’ one-year contract options were activated.

Nineteen-year-old goalkeeper Bentley made her debut appearance for United during the 2018/19 Championship-winning season and had been out of action for the majority of the 2019/20 WSL season due to injury.
Twenty-six-year-old Scotland international Smith has made 36 appearances in all competitions for United, scoring one goal.
Casey Stoney said:

“I’m so pleased that we have Fran and Kirsty here for another season, they are both brilliant individuals who bring so much to the team.

“Fran was unlucky to pick up an injury on international duty before the start of last season but she has been working very hard since and it’s great to see her back on the grass again.

“Kirsty continues to be an important part of the squad, she was one of our most consistent performers before the season was cut short and I’m looking forward to seeing her push herself even further next season.”
